Happy Friday everyone!!  We had a great first, full week!  I am really enjoying getting to know everyone and dig into our year.  The students had fun in science observing plant and animal cells with the microscopes!
**Ask your child how plant and animal cells are alike...different.
(alike = both have cell membranes, nuclei, and cytoplasm....different = plant cells have a cell wall,
           animal cells don't)

In math, the students learned three new place values:  tenths, hundredths, and thousandths!

**Ask your child how you read a decimal point in a number.
(when you see a decimal point in a number you say "and")

Tonight's Homework:   Math - P1-3 and math windows          Science - WB3 #1-3

Next week in math we will work on comparing and ordering decimal numbers and have our first quiz late in the week.  To help your child study, you can review Chapter 1 lessons 1 through 6.

In science we will be reviewing the construction of cells as well as conducting our next experiment dealing with cells and tissues!  Reviewing vocabulary terms is a great way to help your child deepen their understanding of science concepts!

I hope your child has been speaking well about his/her experiences at school!  Please encourage them to participate during class and complete their homework!  Remember, you can monitor your child's homework completion by subscribing to our Dojo system!!  Please contact me if you have any questions!

Have a super fun, safe Labor Day weekend!
