Reminder:  Iowa Assessments will be given next week Monday through Thursday.  Please make sure your child gets plenty or rest the night before each of the tests and gets a healthy breakfast each morning.  Most importantly, please start talking to your child now about the importance of doing their best on each test.  Your encouragement has the biggest impact on your child!

     Science:  Study for test AND Read the article Saving Sloths in Scholastic News  Answer the                                   questions on the back of the magazine that correspond to the story (1-3, second set of                                 questions) and answer the questions in the packet that correspond to the story (4-8)

     Math:  We will be adding and subtracting fractions!

     Science:  We will take our unit test on Monday and then begin a unit on forces.  Lesson one is all about
                    the forces that affect objects on Earth every day!

The end of the third quarter is tomorrow.  The students have until Friday to make any corrections or turn in any missing work so that the improved scores can be reflected in their third quarter grades!  Please encourage them to do so.

     Science:  Study for the lesson 3 quiz Monday

Next Week:

     Math:  We are now in our fraction unit.  We will be working on equivalent fractions, greatest common 
                factors, reducing, comparing and ordering fractions.  Many of these concepts have been
                introduced already on our Drops In the Bucket.  I am anticipating moving quickly through these 
                lessons and jumping into addition and subtraction of fractions the following week!

     Science:  We will be quizzing on lesson 3 on Monday!  The rest of the week will be dedicated to the
                    study and preparation for the unit test on Thursday or Friday.  We will also be working on a
                    Scholastic News.

Reminder:  No school Thursday due to the boys' basketball game in Des Moines.  No school on Friday due to conferences yesterday and tonight!

Reminder:  Please be aware of the altered schedule for next week.  We will be dismissing at 12:15 on Monday, 1:30 on Tuesday, and 1:30 on Wednesday!  Thursday we will not have school if the boys' basketball team wins on Monday.  Otherwise, we will have a full day of school.  No school on Friday of next week either!

Reminder:  Conferences will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon/evening from 2pm until 6pm. The conferences in 5th grade are unscheduled.  Simply drop in when it is convenient for you.  We will try and keep the meetings to 5 - 10 minutes long to accommodate everyone.  If we need to have a longer discussion, we can always schedule another conference at a later date!  We look forward to seeing you all there!
